The book is called "Aircraft radio systems" by J. Powell, published by Pitman Publishing Ltd., London, 1981. ISBN 0-273-08444-5. The publisher seems to have a U.S. office, also: Pitman Publishing Inc., 1020 Plain Street, Marshfield MA 02050. This book covers about everything. VHF COM, HF COM, VOR, DME, ADF, ILS, Decca, Loran, ATC Radar, SSR, Weather Radar, Stormscope, MLS, Audio systems, RNAV etc. etc. Each topic includes functional principles, teoretical considerations, equipment standards, block diagrams of actual equipment etc. etc. The only possible drawback is that because the book is about 10 years old, things like MLS and Stormscope, that were only just appearing then, are not dealt with in detail. Read this book and amaze your piloting friends with arcane knowledge :-) Lars-Henrik Eriksson Internet: lhe@sics.se Swedish Institute of Computer Science Phone (intn'l): +46 8 752 15 09 Box 1263 Telefon (nat'l): 08 - 752 15 09 S-164 28 KISTA, SWEDEN
