To use the service, open a telnet connection to the internet address "duat.contel.com". (On most operating systems ,this can be done by typing the command "telnet duat.contel.com"). DUAT service is sponsored by the FAA and is a free service to any pilot with a valid FAA pilots certificate. It provides continental US weather information/briefings, identifier encode/decode capability, and continental US flight plan filing capability. Please have your certificate number available when you first use the service. Please note that this service is being provided on a limited basis. Because of the nature of our present connectivity to Internet, we cannot guarantee that the service will be available 100% of the time. (Presently the uptime is 99.6%+.) Also we have a limited number of ports (4) available for DUAT service on Internet at this time. If the connection is busy, try again later. We will be monitoring the activity closely and be adding ports later if necessary. If you need access and the Internet service is not available, CONTEL DUAT can be accessed toll-free by dialing 1-800-767-9989 24 hours a day. If you have any questions or comments about CONTEL DUAT service on Internet, please send e-mail to "system@gnd1.wtp.contel.com". -- Marty Anilane, Contel Federal Systems, P.O.
