T-23 Assuming that your aircraft meets the category A approach speed (90 knots or less), and you have an instrument rating, and your IFR aircraft has the normal ILS equpment: (MB GS LOC). Use the following steps to get CAT II 100' DH authorization: 1. Obtain FAA form 7711-2. Write a letter detailing your request for a waiver of 91.189(copilot) 91.191(manual) and 91.205(f). This is in accordance with 91.193. Detail your airplane, and avionics, explaining in detail what you want to do. Do not mail the letter. 2. Arrange with the FSDO for a personal meeting with a *general aviation* inspector. Do not mention CAT II or they will send you to the air carrier divison. 3. At your meeting, nicely bring the inspectors' attention to 91.193, FAA Handbook 8700 section 59. If the inspector is still reluctant, refer (the person) to Mike Elliot at the Memphis FSDO. 4. During your checkride, you will demonstrate your ability to fly an ILS to 100', one one engine in a twin. If your autopilot captures the GS, you will also have to fly a coupled approach too. 5. Assuming you do O.K., you should be approved for CAT II 150' DH in that airplane. Want to go lower? Fly 3 practice approaches with a safety pilot to 100', write a letter to the inspector with your request for 100' DH, and you should receive a letter back giving you full CAT II authorization.
