Message-ID: Date: Mon, 17 Oct 1994 22:33:30 GMT Lines: 53 Okay, a short time ago, Glenn Wesley volunteered to coordinate putting together a "flyout guide" made up of contributions from the various flyers around the world that make up the "rec.aviation" readership. (I presume other flyers' contributions are more than welcome as well, but it's less likely that they'd see this). I've written a few entries for some airports around where I live that I like, and I plan to write bunches more. But, most are going to be for right around here in Seattle (within 100NM or so). Clearly, many people are going to be needed to make this useful. So, I'm including here the "template" that I've been using to put this together. Glenn doesn't seem too particular about the exact format, so if you have suggestions, feel free to tell him. He's got a few volunteers already (myself included), but he can always use more! Feel free to send submissions or comments to him: glennw@mhcnet.att.com So, here's the template I've been using: >Place: >Airport: >Airport ID: >From the airport: >Date of visit (most recent): >Phone numbers: >Descriptions: >Services at airport: >Operations: After this article, I'm going to post the first three entries that I sent Glenn, just so you can see what one person's idea of what this should be like looks like. I think in general, we ought to strive for some semblance of uniformity; but if you see something that could be done better, do it! I'm guessing that this guide will wind up containing predominantly US destinations, but there's no good reason that this has to be. I'm sure that airports/destinations from all around the world are more than welcome. If this is successful, we can hopefully put it somewhere easily accessible (email automated server, ftp access, WWW, whatever), and put a pointer to it in the various rec.aviation.answers postings. Eventually, maybe this will even be cross-referenced with the rentals/fuel prices information that we already have. :) So, what are you waiting for...write up one of *your* favorite flying destinations! -- "The computer can't tell you the emotional story; it can Pete Duniho give you the exact mathematical design, but what's peted@microsoft.com missing is the eyebrows." -- Frank Zappa
